Okay so I'm using a speaker to line converter, this one: https://www.amazon.com/Kicker-KISLOC-2-Channel-Speaker-Converter/dp/B00I4EF1BC?hvadid=78408931334931&hvbmt=be&hvdev=c&hvqmt=e&keywords=speaker+to+line+converter&qid=1540438336&sr=8-1&tag=tomsguide_forum_vgl-20&ref=sr_1_1 for a cd player i'm putting into a home receiver. There's a right +, right -, left +, left -, and ground wire. I connect the wire where I'm supposed to, and into my receiver, but there's just a loud hissing, no music whatsoever. What do?

Solution
CD players don't have speaker outputs but do have RCA line level audio outputs. You wouldn't have any use for a speaker to line level converter in this case.
Connect the CD to any input of the receiver except phono with a stereo RCA cable.
