How i know my motherboard is bad on my hp g71

my hp g71 shuts down on videos.. the whole laptop shut off does that mean my motherboard is dead

It may just be over heating. Turn the laptop off. Locate the fan on the bottom, then locate the exhaust. Put your mouth up to the exhaust and blow (like a harmonica). If you get some dust expelled, turn it back on and try your video again.

In the future, make sure your letting the fan breathe. If it's on a bed or soft surface, your basically suffocating the cooling system.
