How much faster will a SSD make my slow Laptop?

Hi,

So my laptop is really slow and i would like to know how much faster it will become with an SSD
Also can someone recommend me a good lightweight OS for my slow laptop, I don't care if it is Windows or Linux or whatever, im always happy to try a new OS and learn things about it.
Laptop Specs:
CPU: Intel Celeron N2840 @ 2,16 GHz w/ Turbo Mode 2,55 GHz
GPU Intel HD Graphics
Ram: 2 GB DDR3
OS: Windows 8.1 Pro
Display: 1366x768

I little faster , but with a dual core and 2gb of memory not a whole lot quicker.

Depends on what you want. Linux mint would be pretty close to the feel of windows. Xubuntu/Lubuntu are both lighter weight versions of ubuntu. Arch If you really want to learn Linux and want a fast system but be prepared for a learning curve. Debian if you want a very stable if somewhat out of date system.
