@SneakySnake (for some reason quote functionality is broken today)
"To put it bluntly: no one really cares about those products. That is why they don't get the publicity. I know some of them are better and richer featured, but it's the iPad that makes headlines, like it or not"
Stop right there for a second. This is a technology site, supposedly. For all the Apple bashing that has been going on, people have repeatedly defended Apple and this site saying that no one should be so biased and closed-minded if they are "really" interested in technology. As another reader said: this is a "society where differing personal choices are an option and I have a chance to learn about them."
Now, you've just basically tossed every competing product to the iPad (released and soon to be released) in one fell swoop.
The reason these other products don't get publicity is because of the mindless masses that will buy anything with an Apple logo on it lately. Our media, including newspapers, magazines, and TV, did ALL the advertising for Apple this time around even. I did not see >ONE< Apple advertisement for the iPad until the day of its release. People praise Apple's marketing, but there was no marketing this time around. It was simply the sheep mentality in full effect.
With that aside, I care about those other products for a few reasons. I care about competition in the market place. I care about equal coverage for equal or BETTER products. Let's face reality for a moment. Every competitor to the iPad, in terms of specifications, is better than the iPad as you said: "better and richer featured." Unfortunately, as with all Apple products, it appears that hype wins over substance.
