How to boot safe mode on dell xps l501x

F8 does not get me into safe mode?

Then maybe the keyboard is not working. Is it USB? Then enable it from bios.

If the keyboard is USB then you need to enable legacy support for the USB in the BIOS. If this is not the problem then try continually hitting the F8 key from when you power up the computer.
