You can not change the EIDE connector to a SATA connector. Even if you somehow could, an EIDIE controller would not be compatible with a SATA drive.

jaguarskx Champion Moderator Apr 19, 2006 7,553 4 50,315 Sep 6, 2011 #5 Sorry, but the hard drive interface is soldered onto the laptop's motherboard. You cannot simply use a laptop E-IDE to SATA adaptor since none exist. If you want a SATA hard drive, then you need to purchase a new laptop.

If you want a faster hard drive, get a 7200 rpm 2.5" ide hard drive, or find a 2.5" SSD. Hitachi makes several 2.5" 7200rpm drives, and SuperTalent makes 16 & 32gb IDE 2.5" SSD's.
