Hello,

Speakers - Hivi Swans D1200 (No sub-out) -> connected to my amp ifi Zen Dac V2 via RCA -> Connected to my PC

My speakers have 2 line, 1 coaxial and 1 optical inputs
ifi zen dac v2 has 1 line input

I want to buy a subwoofer but I don't know how to connect a subwoofer without a sub-out. Any help on how to connect and suggestions for a decent subwoofer would be appreciated, Thanks!

What outputs does your motherboard have?

Yeah, that setup makes things a bit tricky since your speakers don’t have a sub-out. But don’t worry, you’ve got a few options.

The easiest way is to get a subwoofer with high-level (speaker-level) inputs — basically, it takes the same signal your speakers get and splits off the bass. You’d run your speaker cables from the amp output into the sub’s high-level inputs, then from the sub’s outputs to your speakers. REL, SVS, and Klipsch all make subs that work this way.

If your sub only has RCA inputs, you could also use a RCA splitter from your Zen DAC’s output — one pair goes to your speakers, the other to the sub. But that only works if the sub has adjustable crossover control, since you’ll need to set where the bass cuts off manually.

If you want something simple and clean, a small powered sub like the REL T5x, SVS SB-1000, or Klipsch R-100SW would fit nicely. Just make sure it has either high-level inputs or variable crossover control.
