I have a Yamaha 106 soundbar that I'm trying to connect to the TV and DVD Player and PVR. The TV is a RCA 4K HDTV and I have a Sony dvd player. At the moment I have an optical cable going from the PVR to the soundbar and I have HDMI cables from the dvd, pvr and soundbar going to the Tv. I have sound on the TV but not the dvd player. I've tried connecting the optical cable from soundbar to TV as the manual suggests but dont' get sound that way. Any suggestions?

I am not sure of your TV's model, but if it has ARC (audio return channel) then you are nearly there. The sound bar should be linked to the ARC HDMI connection on the TV, then you do not need the optical cable. If the TV has not got ARC, then i would plug all the peripherals into the TV via HDMI, then optical cable from the TV to the sound bar (without an HDMI connected to it) You will have to look in the audio settings to see if you have to enable the optical output first.
