How to connect microphone to computer

Hi, I have an acer aspire E 15 laptop that only has 1 audio jack that is supposed to be used for both microphones and headphones but when I connect my Sony F-V100 microphone it recognizes it as a headphone (output) instead of a microphone (line in). How can I fix this?
