Your post is a bit confusing, you are talking about some Roku DVD remote then say it came with your smart TV, if it's for a DVD player it would not come with your TV. What do you have exactly, list brands and models, and what are you trying to get to work?

No it's the remote that came with my 50 inch screen smart tv, the remote won't work at all.

Try changing batteries? Contact the TV vendor to get a new one?

If the remote doesn't have the IR codes in its' preprogrammed database you can't use it with that DVD player.
Universal doesn't mean UNIVERSAL.
