How to get TV audio through 5.1 home theatre speaker (dvd receiver)

Hi guys,

I just bought a second hand dvd receiver home theatre model Lht550tb (LG dvd receiver) and try to connect all the speakers to TV audio (TV JVC model LT-40C550). At the moment Im using TV android box that is connected to my TV by using HDMI port. The connections port available for TV and dvd receiver are listed as below:

DVD receiver

S-video cable
Monitor out (video cable)
Euro AV (SCART)
Component video (Y Pb Pr cable)
AV in (RCA connector)

TV

Headphone jack
AV (RCA cable)
Y Pb Pr / Audio
Optical audio
HDMI 1 (ARC) / HDMI 2 / HDMI 3
SCART
PC IN / PC Audio
USB

If it's possible i would like to get TV audio out thru the 5.1 home theatre system. At the moment, im using Jack to RCA cable (from headphone output TV to AV in dvd receiver) and could only get tv audio thru Left and Right home theatre speaker. Even the subwoofer does not produce any sound.

Please guide on how to get TV audio thru all of the speakers and subwoofer. If there is any possible way for me to get it done please let me know. Many thanks!

p/s: android box does not has any connection port except for usb and HDMI (connected to TV)

does not look like it is possible given the lack of inputs. i do not see any 6ch inputs for audio on that receiver. i can not say that i am surprised though given many HTIB systems limit 5.1 to their included dvd player alone.

tldr; use prologic to fake it, keep using stereo or use a different receiver with 6ch input

Connect the headphone out of the TV to the AV in on the HTS.
If the TV volume is too loud it will create distortion regardless of the volume of the HTS.
Use the HTS remote to control the volume not the TV remote.
Set the surround sound on the HTS to one of the modes for stereo input (such as Dolby or Dolby PrologicII) as ssddx says.
The sources remain connected to the TV with HDMI.
