How to know if a dvd player read movies from usb flash?

Okay, i know its a little awkward question, but i have to know! How do i know if a DVD player can read .mp4 movies that i downloaded from yify site and other sites?
I have a dvd player that says it can read mpe-2 or something like that from a usb flash drive, but it doesn't, only if i converte the file into 720x480!

Note: i found a dvd player that have HDMI and usb connectivity, should it work?

Well i tired but its not clear!
Will this do the job? But the spec says that its not able to read some types of files, weird!

the samsung only support 480p or 480i. that why it need 720x480

the panasonic don't support mp4 but it does support divx read the manual

Okay guys thanks, I'm interested in purchasing a Google Chromecast 2 to enjoy watching movies from my tablet cause i don't watch DVDs on a dvd player and i already hve one but it doesn't support .mp4, thanks for your help!
