Solved! How to open external hard drive without reformatting

Hello,

I removed the hard drive from an old lap top and have it hooked up to my new lap top with a USB. I want to extract files from the old hard drive and put them on my new computer. I have no idea where to start. Help!

If you have it rigged to the computer via USB (I assume you bought an external enclosure), you should see it as another drive in My Computer. It should be pretty straight forward from there.
