Make sure your system time (including timezone) is correct. Also, clear your browser caches (temporary files) from time to time and make sure your browsers are up to date.

use https://www.facebook.com

As COL Geek said, if your time settings are wrong then this will prevent you from using security certificates which will prevent you from using https.
