How to record cable tv shows

I have cable provided to me by my apartment complex but DVR is not included. How can I add a DVR and record my shows?

Comcast has them. Tivo as well.

If you have standard cable (no box needed for a TV), you can get a standard TV tuner and use Windows Media Center to record the shows. If you need a cable box, they have cable card tuners that will record the shows. Standard tuners are anywhere from $50 to $150, the cable card tuners are $100-$300.
