Solved! How to remove left behind icons of uninstalled apps on hl-1088 android netbook.

I have successfully uninstalled a variety of apps, none of which required device administration. The problem is the icon of these no longer installed apps remain on the screen of my HL-1088 android netbook. I have tried right click and settings and have thus far not found a solution.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

In Android, do a long click on the icon. This will get you into screen configuration mode, where you can drag and drop icons. A trash can will appear at the top right. Drag the icon to it.

I figured it out! I treated the icons as widgets. I was able to tap and hold them and in doing so, found the trash can. This removed the unwanted icon/widget. Problem solved.
