How to repair PowerPoint file

My sister is school teacher and she had created a brilliant presentation. She moved the presentation into a removable drive without creating a backup. When she tried to open the presentation, PowerPoint says file is corrupt or in different file format.

Any ideas gratefully accepted!!

Please try to open the file using Open Office. Previously I had successful result with it.

Can you tell the format it is currently. If possible can try to convert to .ppt format.

File format of file is .ppt. As presentation was created using MS PowerPoint 2003.
