Unless the manufacturer or sometimes even the Service Provider if you have phone access, has messed with Android Lollipop, it will root. If you want to root it through your PC using a Windows software and a USB connection, KingoRoot is a good utility.
Before you start, tap the Apps square and from there go into the Settings and More then About Device. Tap Build Number seven times to become a Developer then go onto Developer Options and change the USB settings so you can connect to a computer.
Then you can fire up KingoRoot and let it run. Other Rooting utilities are availabe from the Play Store but they will all require the above procedure to have gone through first.
