dbrad :
Hi,
I'm getting a noise when I turn up the faders on my desk? Any ideas what this might be?
Hi dbrad, The most common issue for faders (slide) & pots (rotation) noise, is dirt or dust build-up on their carbon film track.
This results in a 'cracking-sound' noise as the lever or knob is moved.
To overcome this, buy an electronic CONTACT CLEANER from RS (radio shack) or MAPLIN. Generally this is NON-CONDUCTIVE and can be applied while the unit is powered up,... so spray a small amount (less than a second duration) of this into the fader or pot & then move up & down or rotate back an forwards until the 'crackling-sound' stops.
NOTE: The 'pots', can only be serviced from inside the unit or with the boards taken out of their position.
