i need to know how to set partition on laptop apart from formatting ma lap???

A hard drive doesn't know whether it is in a desktop or a laptop. Two options:

1. If installing the OS yaself, just set the partition size you want for C:\ and install Windows.

2. If already installed using an older OS, try a 3rd party partitioning tool.

3. With Windows Vista or 7:
