Worth doing? Yes, if your programs take use of more cores then more cores is a good thing, no difference in singlethreaded apps though,
You will need a motherboard with a 710 chipset or higher, and in bios there will be an option for ACC or core unlocker, dependant on brand,
Rememebr though ,there may be a valid reason your core was locked up, don't depend on a successful unlock
