I'm not familiar with that device but has it got a very small socket - smaller than the micro USB that charges it? If it has, buy a cable with taht micro HDMI on one end and standard HDMI at the other .

No it is a standard android charge port
I talked to a guy from best buy and he said with this phone the adapter wouldn't work so obviously I went and bought one to see for my self and he was right
What I want to know is there a way around that issue

I'm not the seller and I'm not recommending it but it could be useful. UYour local e-Bay pages might show the same product. I searched for micro USB to micro USB but found nothing. I'm sure I've seen such a cable or adapter. I used one like it when I bought a tablet Mirco HDMI port.
