The Microsoft Surface is meant to serve as both a tablet and a laptop. With its USB ports, it is easy to attach a variety of devices to the Surface. While it does have a built in touchpad (if you have the keyboard), users can attach a wired or wireless mouse to use with the device. Connecting the mouse is easy as is using it. Here is how you can do it:
1. Depending on the type of mouse you are going to be using, you will first have to connect it to your Microsoft Surface.
2. If you have a wired mouse, plug the USB cable into one of the USB ports on your device. If you have to turn the mouse on, do so at this point.
3. If the mouse is wireless, plug the USB adapter into the Microsoft Surface. Make sure the mouse is on.
4. Your Surface will recognize that you are attempting to add hardware and will connect with it automatically.
5. If, for some reason, your mouse is not recognized, you can go to Settings and tap Change PC settings. Tap PC and Devices and then tap Devices.
6. If you do not see your mouse listed under Devices, you can tap Add Device and follow the on-screen instructions to add the mouse.
