How to use HDMI port for 5.1 speakers

Hello,
I have Dell laptop which has the HDMI port. Now i want to connect 5.1 creative speakers using this HDMI output. Is this possible? Please suggest something. Reply to this mail ID (arunkrajagopal@gmail.com) if u have solution. Thanks in advance.

technically....if you had a device that could decode the 5.1 signal and export it somehow to the speakers you could do it....but in general i'll agree with soundguruman and say that NO this is not a valid option

if you have a free usb port you could however go buy a usb sound card and connect the 5.1 speakers to that.
