I just bought a new laptop. Please tell me how will this handle new games. I like games like COD, Battlefield, SKyrim, CS.
Processor: i5 4210U, (1.7-2.7 Ghz) turbo
8GB RAM DDR3L SDRAM
Nvidia Geforce GT840M, 2GB dedicated graphics card
Screen 15.6" 1920X1080p
1TB HD. (not relevant but...)

to be specific, I need following questions answered.
1. Will it play all demanding games without any lag? At what settings- med or high?
2. Will it handle CAD software easily. (solidworks, autodesk)?

Additional information will be appreciated :)

OK, after running BF4 I can say that it can easily play it on medium but on high it drops to 20fps. Medium it can run it at about 50fps.

1. It will play demanding games without lag on LOWEST settings but might play them at medium-ish settings with a bit of lag if you;re comfortable with it. Definitely NOT a gaming laptop.

2. It will handle CAD moderately well.

I have access to an 840m notebook with the same processor, I can tell you it can run most games at medium to high depending on whether you class 45fps as playable (on high). If you tell me a game you want a benchmark on and I have it I will be happy to post results here...

I honestly doubt that config can handle these games at medium 1080p not going under 30fps:
Dragon Age: Inquisition
Watch Dogs
Crysis 3
AC:U
just to name a few...

It will however handle Skyrim (maxed 1080p but without mods) and CS:GO (maxed 1080p)

I have got watch dogs to about 50fps on high but without antialiasing and ambient occlusion. Also, I would presume that it can run CAD OK as it does have discrete graphics, which is, at least, a step up from integrated.

I don't need to play them at full 1080p, 720p is also good. I just want smooth gaming and med graphics
.
