I bought this laptop hp notebook bg001ax at approx $430 .....can anyone help by telling if its a gaming laptop or not....

No, it is not.

Assuming it has the AMD Radeon R5 M430, it will have pretty low performance since it is less powerful than a nVidia 920m. If it simply relies on the integrated Radeon R4 (Beema / Carrizo-L) graphics core, then it is less powerful than the Intel HD 4000 found in 3rd generation Intel CPUs.

Curious timing, asking after buying it, especially for an expensive item like a laptop.

I wouldn't have recommended you buy an HP one anyway, not after my bad experiences with several of them.
Good design spoiled by poor reliability. One day, just one day, HP might get it right on both counts.
