I recently bought a Corsair Force GT 180GB SSD to replace my old 5400rpm HDD.
The problem is that it won't recognize the SSD when plugged where the HDD was. I've done all sorts of searches on the problem and if there is a way to fix it but no luck whatsoever. The SSD even lights up green when plugged into the sata port.

I'm trying to do a fresh install of windows 7 from both usb and CD but nothing recognizes.

Is there a driver for recognizing ssds or am I doing something wrong?
Maybe the SSD is incompatible with the laptop in some way I'm not seeing?

Hey there, rucksack!

I'd suggest to go to BIOS and set the SATA mode to AHCI.
Also check the cable connections again and make sure everything is plugged firmly.
If you have another SATA cable lying around somewhere, you can try to switch it. If you don't have a spare SATA cable, swap the ones (SATA and power cables) connected to the CD-ROM.

Let me know how it goes! Hope this helps! :)
