Hp dv series class action lawsuit

I have an HP DV series that I paid pemium money for and now the monitor has become very difficult to see. It started off as the picture getting whiter with very little contrast.
I upgraded the bios but had no luck. This is very upsetting because I paid so much money for the laptop. It really should last a lot longer than this.

How old is it? If it is less than a year old, it comes with a 1 year warranty, which means that HP will fix it for free.
