HP OMEN 15 nvidia GPU instead of integrated Intel

Hi all!

So yesterday I received my laptop and one thing surprised me is that I do not find the way to set nvidia gpu (1050) as the default gpu. I have uninstalled and installed the drivers. The computer detects the gpu but if I go to "monitor controller" always shows integrated graphics card.

I see I can set nvidia as default in the control panel in 3d configuration. In that contorl panel, I go to Surround and PhysX configuration and it's impossible to change the hardware of the monitor (I can change the physx but not the hardware to run the monitor).

Any help there? Is this normal in this laptops?

Laptop using other graphics card and not the Nvidia one?

First you need to get it to detect and use the right card.

A. Uninstall, and then reinstall, the latest graphics card driver.
B. Make sure that your Nvidia graphics card is set as the default graphics card.

Here's the steps on how to set it to default.

1. Open the "Nvidia Control Panel".
2. Select "Manage 3D Settings" under 3D Settings.
3. Click on the "Program Settings" tab and select the program you want to choose a graphics card for from the drop down list.
4. Now select "preferred graphics processor" in the drop down list. (You can see what the automatic option is listed as global setting) If you want to use the dedicated graphics card, select High-performance Nvidia processor.

Once it is running on the right one, test the system again and see if the problem persists.

Well this is what I already did. So I imagine this is to safe battery life. I wanted to go always with gpu nvidia, thing that I see it's not possible.

Moreover I have put a SSD to my laptop and it has been day and night, I was almost ready to return the laptop because of his ugly performance. It is super disgusting that a laptop with 7700hq processor and 12gb ram comes with a f*cking very bad HDD. It gives a super poor performance. Can not understand why manufacturers do this (well it's a matter of money of course, but the reputation...god!).

I have to agree, if it is giving you such trouble and it is new, I would consider returning it and getting something else.
