Hello Everyone,
I have an older (approx 8 years old) HP Pavilion DV7-1245dx entertainment laptop and all of a sudden it won't boot up. Trying to figure if it's time for a new laptop, or a cheap fix. Here is what happens upon powering up, and any help would be much appreciated.
- push power on all lights working, monitor does no light up.
- fan turns on for a couple seconds, DVD access sound( kinda like a grinding noise).
- then I get 2 faint beeps followed by the DVD access sound and this cycles 3 times.
- after 3rd cycle the Cap/Num keys blink 1 time, followed by the 2 faint beeps and DVD access sound
- from this point on it cycles the same way, 2 faint beeps, DVD access sound,Cap/Num blinks once.
- monitor never turns on, all other lights come on, white light on power supply plug on computer(new power supply).
So far I've done the hard boot/reset, switched out ram, pulled and reinstalled the HD and DVD player, powered on with and without the battery. Also have ordered a new coin cell battery as per instructions on HP support forum( hasn't come in yet).
This is the first issue I've ever had with the the laptop and it's been great. I'm wondering if it's time to put it to rest, LOL!
IF It's time for a new one, can I get some recommendations on what brand laptop to get? Things have changed so much in the last decade. I use my laptop for Internet, mail, Chirp to program ham radios, and every now and then a steam game. Looking in the 5-600 dollar range. And a laptop that doesn't have overheating issues and easy to repair if needed, and most of all doesn't have a lot of issues.
If I'm asking to much for the price range, advice on something close would be great. Thanks for your time and help!
