HP pavillion dv9000 no fan, wont boot

I have just gotten an Hp pavilion dv9000. When I try to boot it all the board lights come up, the dvd drive tries to load but the screen stays black and there is no noise from the fan either. I don't have its hard drive so I don't know if its putting power or not. Also I'm in Australia but there was no Australia link so I just used usa. Please help I wan't to get this working. Corey.

I'd hook it to an external monitor and see if that works. You might have a bad LCD or inverter. If the external doesn't work, it might be a bad video card. Some of the 9000 series had recalls. I'd look into that also through HPs site (you'll need you model/serial number, google HP recall)

Oh, and the fan may not come on until the CPU warms up (passive cooling).

Oh I forgot about this thread I found it to be a dead graphics so scraping it for parts. Thanks for your help.

YOU dont have to scrap it .... YOU can reheat the Mother board to reseat the Solder JOINTS ... I have done it and it works

Sorry for a very late reply, been awhile since I've been here 😛
I tried that to no success. The HP is long gone now so i guess it doesn't matter. got myself an XPS m1710 anyway 😀 $120 bargain!
