Hello I have an elderly Paillion DV9700 that I'm running linux on, yesterday I ran updates on it, to install this it needed to reboot, however it has refused to do so, When I press the power button, it flashed on for around a second then turns off. I have tried removing the battery and bale and then replacing them but nothing works. I don't think it's a software problem, but seems more like a hardware problem but what is it and can I fix it? It's a nice computer with a large clear definition screen, it seems a shame to chuck it, if anyone can advise me I would be most grateful. All the best. Gerald

Mot likely thing is a failed motherboard. You can try different RAM or one stick at a time. Try leaving it sitting for a few days with the main battery and CMOS battery removed and try turning it on again.

disconnect the power adapter from laptop. remove main battery from laptop. hold the power button down for a 20 count. reconnect the power adapter to laptop & see if laptop powers up when you press the power button.

Hello, sorry for the late reply, but I'm unwell at the moment. I did as you suggested but I'm afraid there was no change, the top row of lights, light up for approx. 1 second then go out, the same s before. Kindest regards Gerald
