HyperX Cloud 2 7.1 surround Question

Is the surround sound on or off when the light is on or off?

That's what I was thinking but when it was activated it seemed to be less directional and more encompassing than when it was deactivated. I was just looking for confirmation

hmmm, you got the manual buddy? it could be the opposite, i mean i can usually tell the difference because 7.1 sounds more tinny and more stretched (open) like you say.

i have the sennheiser g4me one headset which is stereo by default, but can make it virtual 7.1 in my sound card settings, but i tend to just use stereo as it sounds cleaner.

this is what someone said in another post

"When you press the 7.1 button in the middle of the controller, it should glow red. This means its on, and when you press it again, the LED will turn off, and it will go back to stereo sound. Try playing a game and pressing the button, you should be able to hear a noticeable difference"

I had a look inside it but no info on the surround, I'll just test it in a game by having my friend run around me or something, thanks for the help.
