I am trying to hook my old DVD player up to my LG smart tv. I am using red, white, yellow cables to hook it up. I have the picture and sound on the movies, but no color.

This may be one of those cases where, rather than racking your brain, go pick up an HDMI DVD player for 40$ from Walmart. It may not be worth struggling with.

Go into the TV menu and change the input from component video to composite video.
