The how-to-make-the-sd-card-the-default-location-to-download-apps tutorial leads one to believe that all android os have a myfiles file located in their app drawer. I don't seem to have one and as a byproduct of that missing quality can't follow the rest of the tutorial to accomplish the aforementioned, aptly named, tutorial's task.

The tutorial was probably referring to a more recent version of Android than yours. Look instead for File manager or anything with the word "file" in it. If all else fails, download Android Commander to your PC and when you plug in the device, that programme will find it and display all the files you need to see. You can then transfer them over. If you can connect your device to a PC now, you may be able to copy the files into the PC as a backup then copy the chosen files to the SD card and continue to follow the instructions you found.
