Can't fit digital cable into out connection on Samsung tv ,even tho I bought a digital cable. Won't fit tight. Is there a cap on it? Needs to come off?

There is a dust cover that the toslink cable pushes inside when inserted but no removable cover.
Usually there is a click when the cable is inserted but it's not really locked in since the optical digital audio output is not electrical but fiber optic it should work even if you tape it in place.
