The DVDs indicated 8 geg file but the DVD player could not read it.

Can your DVD player play MP4 files? If so, what codecs does is support?

If you want to make a disk playable in every DVD player, you have to "master" it as DVD. I don't know what programs are available for MacOS, Google/Bing for "dvd authoring mac os".
