I have a problem with my microsoft word can anyone help me?

I have word 2003 and my problem is that it wont remember my default setting, when I go to format then click on font and set new default settings it wont remember them and when I start word up again it starts with the old setting not the new ones. I've already reinstalled it twice and it hasn't helped. Can anyone tell my why this is happening? Oh and I have windows 7 64 bit.

That didn't do anything the problem is still there
