It was not working; I had a guy replace the fuses (2). Now he says that the transformer has melted. Any ideas about how to proceed? It was always plugged into my Monster system to avoid surge issues.? Help!

The fuses blew for a reason. Replacing them (or bypassing them) caused the transformer to fail. Or the transformer failure may have been the root cause all along. No way to know. Either you trust the electronics technician or you don't. This isn't something that a forum on the internet can probably help you with. Seems like it is time for new speakers.
