I have an old box tv and I'm trying to hook up a DVD player, but I can't get any audio or video.. I don't have the remote for

Have you checked the RCA connectors or HDMI if it's not damaged or plugged in properly? Try replacing the cables and make sure the source is correctly selected.

Which brand and model are you using, TV and DVD player please. How did you connect both? scart? Set your TV to channel "AV".

You need to select the video input you connected the DVD to. If you don't have the remote try tuning below channel 2. On some older TVs that will work. Otherwise you will need to get a replacement remote or a good universal remote that will allow you to change inputs on that model TV.
