Hi,

Next year i'm going to the university to develop games.
I need one laptop to work in class with game engines, etc.

And, here is my doubt.

I have a budget of about 1100-1350€ // 1299 - 1600$.
I have been looking arround a tech page that we have here in spain, and i have found for that range of price two models that are interesitng.

First, the MSI GE63VR 7RE

Which in my country store is now for: 1365€ // 1611$

The other laptop i have found is:

MSI GL72MVR 7RFX

CPU: Kabylake i7-7700HQ+HM175 (6M Cache, up to 3.80 GHz)

1x Headphone-out (SPDIF)
1x Type-C USB3.1 Gen2
2x Type-A USB3.0
1x Type-A USB2.0
1x RJ45
1x (4K @ 30Hz) HDMI
1x Mini-DisplayPort
Card Reader: SD (XC/HC)
Dimensions: 419 x 287 x 29~32 mm
Weight: 2.7 kg

What's is interesing about this model, is that usually is at 1349€ // 1593 , but now there's a deal of 1199€ // 1415$.

My question is.
Does the first one 150€ // 200$ more than the second one are justified?
If so, do you recomend me the first one (15,6" but 120hz) instead of the second one (17,3" 60hz) taking into account i will need to work with game engines, developer apps (thinking about small workspace).

And the last one, are you thinking of a better laptop that maybe i haven't found?
minimum with a gtx 1060, 7700, 16 ram and 256 ssd 1tb...

At home i have a 24"144hz with a gtx 1080, 6700k, 32gbram,ssd+hdd, etc,
but i will need to travell arround and move constantly.

Thank you for your attention and patience with my probably bad english, i do my best XD.

Welcome to Tom's!
To me, the big differences are the 2nd laptop has a bigger screen, and is heavier. and the battery in the first laptop would probably last longer between charges.
The other specs are more-or-less a wash

While the 2nd screen is physically larger, it has the same resolution as the first, and will therefore not seem as sharp as the first, but would be easier to read as type would be bigger.

If runtime were not an issue, I would go with the 2nd one, especially as you can get a "deal".

Do you think maybe i should buy new Xiaomi Gaming Laptop? It's now for 1320€ // 1599$ in geekbuying, or should i stay with the msi we spoke about (the second one)

I have no personal experience with Xiaomi of any kind. I just googled it, and the article stated that they were only available in China and did NOT come with an english version of Windows, only Mandarin, and I couldn't find any data about its battery, or runtime. If you need or want an english version, then you would have to reload it after you got the machine. As I don't read or write Mandarin, I would still go with the MSI laptop. Similar hardware will perform about the same,
