FCPGA988 is the socket type. ^^' Your real board number is either under the board or under the RAM sticks.

The T-CON (Timing Controller) is the board where the LVDS leads to, in the rear of the LCD. You might need to remove the plastic around it to check the fuse. It will be a surface mount fuse, no more than a few millimeters big. It usually isn't too accessible as well, and hidden under "do not touch" tape or plastic. ^^;

It's a possibility a fuse is broken, but 9 time out of 10, the controller itself is broken.
Typical reasons you get a white display screen are...

1. The connection to the display is loose.
2. The screen is damaged/defective.
3. The motherboard is defective.

In the case of #3 this is assuming that your motherboard has a GPU for graphics. If you have a separate graphics card, then it could be the problem.

Hello there.

First of all, what was the issue with the original board? Picture issues? Or simply dead?

Did you check for the presence of any DIP switches on your board? If yes, they need to be at the exact same position as your old board.

Hi the original board did the same thing a white screen on power up I didn't think it was the built in gpu because the screen still lit up, and what is the acronym DIP switch stand for I wasn't sure if it was the motherboard because it would never automatically shut down. anything else I can try! Thanks

Thanks for responding . Could my built in gpu still show something on a external monitor and not the laptop screen I also tried to load a windows disc and the DVD drive ran for a couple minutes then stopped with nothing changed finally can the laptop still post without a hard drive . Thanks .

This a dip switch:

Some motherboards are compatible with multiple screens, and you need to flick those to the correct position for a picture.

If you changed you motherboard and LVDS cable and you still have a white screen, best guess is your LCD is broken. It often happens. You can check if the fuse isn't broken on the T-CON as a last resort. Check your LVDS connection if it is secure.

Broken GPU =/= white screen. White screen can be a lot of issues: broken LCD, broken lvds cable, broken video card, broken supply/board.

I finally know what a dip switch is now by chance do you know if foxconn boards have them. mine is a model FCPGA988 with a Intel i3-3120M CPU. as far as the fuse you mentioned would the T-Connector be on the back of the LCD monitor Thanks again !
