Hello guys,
I have. Small question. Im looking for a
all round laptop. And ive got 2 options .
One is toshiba M840 i7 -3612QM .
AMD 2gb 7670M.4gb ram .750hdd .

the other is dell inspiron 3542 i7 -4510u
Nvidia 2gb 840m .8gb ram .1tb hdd .

Benchmark indicate 6845 of score for the Toshiba and 4004 for the dell at cpubenchmark.net .this is scraching my head .should i depend on the score if ram and hdd are not considered. And why the 4th gen scored low .
Ohh and i might save about 100$ bucks on the Toshiba.sorry for any errors on English.
Thanks for any ideas guys .

The 4 gen is low power, 11w (or something like that). It depends what you wanna do, but the GTX 840M is a far better GPU, so that's good, and the extra ram will help too.

The Toshiba is using a quad-core i7 with a 35W TDP, The Dell's chip is a dual-core chip that's limited to 15W. The Toshiba will be faster, but the Dell's batteries will probably last a bit longer.
If you're buying laptops with discrete graphics, you probably don't care about battery as much, and you can always upgrade RAM, but you can't upgrade the CPU, I'd go with the Toshiba.

Hello again,
Thanks for the replies.i just noticed TDP through your replies.

My budget is around 850$.

With the dedicated graphics is the power saved by procesor a big deal .
And my problem will be solved if i could overclock the cpu to gain that 2900 score gap.is it possible.

I'll use this to flash software to phones.larg dual ziped filles are to be processed. Any ideas .thanks again .
hope this thread will help someone else too .

With the dedicated graphics, yes, it still is, due to the graphics also been more efficient. Using Intel XTU should allow you to increase the power limit and the clock slightly, but you're not going to see much difference anyway.

Yeah, I may have to change my answer, as I didn't realize how big the difference between the two GPUs was.
Will this be used on the road, or will it be plugged into the wall most of the time?
Do you see yourself gaming on it at all?
