Help to choose between two laptops

Hello guys,
Yup, another comparison thread, bear with me please.

Considering these two, which one would you choose?
I'll be mainly working with it, coding and data processing.

Laptop 1)
Three years of use
CPU: i7-4510U
RAM: 16GB DDR3
HDD: 1TB
GPU: AMD with 2GB VRAM
Price =~ $525

Laptop 2)
Brand new
CPU: i5-8250U
RAM: 8GB DDR4
HDD: 1TB
GPU: Integrated graphics.
Price =~ $925

Do you plan to use it on battery power for prolonged periods of time?
If so, the battery on that 3 year old laptop is probably quite beaten up by now.

I don't really want it to be plugged 24/7 to work but wouldn't mind a if it worked for a few hours unplugged.

Both are more than good enough for that. Just keep in mind you will most likely need to change the battery in the old one if you get that one.
