Solved! i7 or core 2 duo processor

I will be ordering a new gaming laptop in a few hours.
My final question is what processor to order?

Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T9900 (6MB cache/3.06GHz/1066Mhz FSB)
or
Intel® Core™ i7-820QM Quad Core Processor @ 1.73GHz (3.06GHz Turbo Mode, 6MB Cache)

Based on this chart I am leaning toward the i7 but would love feadback from the forum.

The chart you have is for a pure CPU test - of course the quad core wins.

For gaming, though, the i7 and the core 2 duo are pretty much matched. Notebooks just don't have the GPU power to differentiate.

I'd say get the duo if you prefer battery life, and get the quad if you'll be doing any CPU-tasking work.

The i7. If you ever need the raw speed simply use the turbo mode and it will easily prevail over the T9900. For apps that use more threads, like certain video or music encoding apps, the i7 will win. On the other hand the T9900 should have better batter life, as frozen stated, and you don't have to mess with turbo mode on it for older apps that may only use one or two threads.

Then my final answer is the Core 2 Duo model. Since you want a gaming system, you'll have better framerates with the C2D model, at least on stock speed. If they're both the same price, I'd get the i7 just for longevity and versatility for CPU intensive tasks.
