If someone downloaded tracker software on my phone, would it go thru my sim card or the phone itself?

This discussion should have been in the cell phone forum. Regardless, what makes you think "tracker software" has been installed on your phone? On many phones, it is a feature that is enabled as part of the phone account itself (many family plans add this to keep track of kids). That means it is associated with the SIM card.
