trying to up the volume on laptop - when I press the up/down arrows with the speaker logos - nothing happens? Should I be pressing some command key to activate the arrow keys or what else can I do?

Solution
What laptop are you using? Some laptops do require a key combination for volume control. My dad's Dell laptop, for example, has an "Fn" key to be pressed with other keys.

Pretty much all laptops require holding "Fn" (Function) in order to do most things (like screen brightness, volume, switching songs, rewind/fast forward in Media Center, etc). It's to prevent accidental key presses, but also to annoy us :p

Thanks for that info;; Holding the Fn key down while, using the up and down arrows does change the volume of he internal speakers. There are probably other functions that could be adjusted with that process.
