Installed coax cable but now cannot get local channels with direct tv

new cable installed on direct tv box now cannot get local stations

Sounds like the switcher box no longer has connection to the direct tv box. Understand your pulling from more than one satellite in orbit and the switcher box put both together. Generally locals are on another satellite so your new cable may not be working or the box isn't working correctly. Look for small box outside your home with 2 coax from the dish and possible two from the box inside your home.
