Solved! Intel pentium processor b940 vs Intel® Core™ i3-380M

I am trying to decide between two computers for college. they are similarly priced, but i know nothing about processors.

i will be using it for school, doing research and other things. but i will also be using it for personal use like music and videos.

Can anyone help me to understand the difference between the two?

Get the Core i3, it is faster, the pentium is a very weak processor that is made for extremely low budget type systems, the Core i3, is similar, but it still is better, and it based on an architecture that is used with Core i5s... much better..

You might want to look that up. The Penitum B940 is based on Sandy Bridge architecture and has very similar performance to first gen i3's (Nehalme architecture).

autodata 2009 can only use 1 core and uses 100%cpu while loading

on b940 it takes 25secs to load

on i3-380m it takes 40secs
