intermittent battery signal

hello, i have a sony vaio im not sure which model but the battery doesn't show up unless i wiggle the monitor. its a little conserning. i was wondering if there is a ribbon or something? i dont want to open it unless i know what im looking for.. i mean i have opened it to fix it before to change the cpu or other things i know how but i dont recall seeing a ribbon for the battery

You mean it doesn't show up on the screen or the battery is simply not connected?
